Minor Project: Famous Landmarks in UAE

United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a federation of seven emirates, and was established on 2 December 1971. The constituent emirates are Abu Dhabi (which serves as the capital), Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm al-Quwain. In 2013, the UAE’s population was 9.2 million, of which 1.4 million are Emirati citizens and 7.8 million are expatriates.

Top Ten Famous Places in UAE (practice)

In this tutorials, I will create interactive and visually appealing charts and maps for use in online journalism by Google Fusion Table. One of the first steps is setting up Google Fusion Table. I need a Gmail account for this. Once I have an account, I need to go to Google Drive and set up the application.

In this tutorial I am going to create a chart that shows top ten places in UAE. Then, I will locate the places on Google Map. Then, I will include a photo of each Emirate in the Google Map. Finally, I will add brief information about each place.

This post explains how I opened a new document and did a simple layout with text and photos by using InDesign. First, I opened a 2-page document that is A4 in size, with 2 columns. Filled the columns with placeholder text . Then copied the following image and pasted in the center of the page. I Adjusted the size of the image so that it will be small and text can be seen around it.

Then I text wrapped the image. Once I have done that, I exported the page as an image file (.JPG). It is a helpful program for writing papers.

My assignment was to combine three images and provide text. I used Photoshop to help me finish my assignment. I used the tools that would spare me time. Below are the images I was required to use:

Final result: Save Earth

I made the text simple, but with a lot of meaning. We should realize that if we kept harming our environment for money; then in one day, we will realize that we can’t eat money.
